John Hughes Wilcox — Executive Chef & AI Engineer

The Method

I’ve spent 15 years leading kitchen teams — building trust under pressure, reading a room, knowing when to step in and when to let people run. At Anthem, that means guiding a crew through 200 covers of tex-asian fusion every service, making a hundred small calls a night at speed, under heat, with no margin for error.

When I started building AI systems, the parallels were immediate. The best autonomous agents work the way great kitchen teams do — each one has a clear role, knows when to escalate, and trusts the others to hold their station. My agent networks aren’t mechanical pipelines. They’re modeled on the way real teams communicate: delegation, awareness, and knowing when to call an audible.

That’s the method. Leadership is leadership — whether you’re calling tickets on the line or orchestrating 32 AI agents across research, trading, and content. The tools change. The instincts don’t.
